Corporate Policies
To act responsibly at every step of our supply chain, we maintain and apply policies in the following seven areas; we regularly review and update our processes against these policies.
Quality & Food Safety Policy
We deliver the fresh fruit and vegetables we carefully source from Turkey's various production regions to domestic and international markets with a commitment to trust and quality. In line with this:
- We classify our products against the internationally recognized fresh fruit and vegetable marketing standards of Codex Alimentarius and UNECE (Extra / Class I / Class II).
- We evaluate our grower partners for quality and consistency, and regularly review the continuity of these partnerships.
- We ensure every batch is traceable back to its source by matching it against its sourcing region and shipment records.
- Produce that does not meet the required caliber, ripeness, or visual standard is systematically sorted out during sizing and grading and excluded from shipment.
- Before every shipment, we verify that documents such as the phytosanitary certificate, commercial invoice, and packing list are fully consistent with the physical cargo in the container.
- We maintain an uninterrupted cold chain from sourcing to delivery, and report temperature records on request.
- We comply with the Turkish Food Codex and applicable food legislation.
- We record and evaluate customer complaints and feedback, and take corrective action to prevent recurrence.
- Our quality and food safety management systems are certified to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 22000:2018 by an independent certification body; see our Certifications page for details.
Occupational Health, Safety & Environment Policy
The health and safety of our employees, business partners, and visitors is central to our operations. In line with this:
- We fully comply with Turkey's Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 6331 and related legislation.
- We maintain safe working conditions in our storage, loading, and shipping operations, and assess risks proactively.
- We record incidents and near misses, evaluate their root causes, and act to prevent recurrence.
- We regularly inform our employees about workplace safety, personal protective equipment, and emergency procedures.
- We prioritize practices that reduce packaging and operational waste.
- We comply with applicable environmental legislation and regularly review the environmental impact of our operations.
Energy Policy
We prioritize energy efficiency across our cold-chain and shipping-heavy operations. In line with this:
- We prefer energy-efficient equipment and service providers for cold storage and transport.
- In shipment planning, we weigh the destination, the product's shelf life, and the delivery deadline together when choosing the transport mode (road, sea reefer, air cargo, or combined) to avoid unnecessary energy use.
- We monitor our energy consumption and regularly evaluate opportunities to improve efficiency.
- We fully comply with applicable legal obligations and regulations related to energy.
Environment & Sustainability Policy
For us, sustainability means acting responsibly at every step of the supply chain. In line with this:
- We prioritize working with grower partners who use water and soil resources efficiently.
- We encourage our grower partners to adopt responsible plant-protection practices that reduce residue risk.
- We aim to minimize post-harvest food loss through proper temperature control and standards-compliant packaging.
- We prioritize supporting rural employment and grower income by working with family businesses that have continued across generations.
- We build long-term, fair trade relationships with our grower partners and regularly review the continuity of these relationships.
- We support practices that reduce packaging waste and increase the use of recyclable materials.
Ethical Trade & Human Rights Policy
We are committed to honesty, transparency, fair competition, and respect for fundamental human rights in all our business relationships. In line with this:
- We comply with the legislation of the countries we operate in and with international trade rules.
- In our labor relations and when selecting grower partners, we respect the core principles of the International Labour Organization (ILO), including the absence of forced or child labor, and basic working-condition standards.
- We treat our employees and business partners fairly and with respect, without discrimination.
- We oppose bribery and corruption in all forms; we neither make nor accept facilitation payments in our business dealings.
- We take a reasonable and proportionate approach to gifts and hospitality, and avoid situations that could influence business decisions.
- We verify products' declared origin, variety, and class against documentation, aiming to protect the integrity of our supply chain.
- We protect personal data shared by customers and suppliers in line with our KVKK Privacy Notice.
- We provide an open and protected reporting route for raising conduct inconsistent with these policies.
Reporting and complaints. If you believe something is inconsistent with these policies — whether you are an employee, a grower partner, a supplier or a customer — you can write to info@mcsarikayagida.com with Report in the subject line. Reports are reviewed by company management; the identity of the person reporting is not shared with the parties concerned without their explicit consent. No one will face adverse treatment for a report made in good faith. Where the review finds it necessary, corrective steps are taken, and anyone who identifies themselves receives a response.
Supplier Principles
We expect the growers and suppliers we work with to operate within the same framework as our own policies. These principles are based on the core conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and on the specific requirements of the fresh fruit and vegetable trade:
- Freely chosen employment: Forced, bonded or coerced labour is not accepted in any form.
- No child labour: The minimum working age set by Turkish Labour Law No. 4857 and ILO Conventions 138 and 182 is observed.
- Fair wages and working hours: Wages may not fall below the legal minimum; working hours stay within legal limits and overtime is paid.
- No discrimination: Discrimination in hiring or working conditions, and physical or verbal mistreatment, are not accepted.
- Safe working conditions: A hygienic, safe environment and the necessary protective equipment are provided in the field and at packing.
- Freedom of association: Workers' rights to organise and to bargain collectively are respected.
- Plant protection and residue compliance: Only registered plant protection products are used at label dose, pre-harvest intervals are observed, and spray records are shared on request.
- Traceability: Every lot must be matchable to its production area and harvest date; origin, variety and class must be consistent with the documents.
- Environmental responsibility: Efficient use of water and soil resources and the reduction of packaging waste are observed.
- Legal compliance and integrity: Applicable legislation is followed; bribery, corruption and facilitation payments are not accepted.
We follow compliance with these principles through supplier declaration, shared records and shipping documents, and request an on-site check in the production area where needed. Where a non-conformity is found we first ask for corrective action; if it is not resolved, the supply relationship is ended.
Growers and suppliers who want to bring their produce to domestic and export markets can reach us through our contact page.
These policies are reviewed and updated on a regular basis.
